Reynolds-Jackson Statement on SOC Report

(TRENTON) – Following the release of the Legislative Select Oversight Committee’s report on the handling of a sexual assault allegation by the gubernatorial transition team and the Murphy Administration, committee member Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-Mercer, Hunterdon) released the following statement:

“After careful consideration of the testimonies provided, it is clear that proper action was not taken to address Katie Brennan’s allegations and there was a lack of accountability on the part of members of senior Administration staff. This should never have been allowed to happen.

“I am confident in the contents of this report and sincerely hope our recommendations will influence governmental hiring practices and policies related to sexual assault allegations. It is vital that senior employees understand and act in accordance with those policies going forward. I am committed to working with legislators to ensure a system is in place to properly address these situations so that no survivor ever goes unheard again.”
