Speaker Oliver Statement on Sept. 11 Remembrance

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver (D-Essex/Passaic) released the following statement Tuesday on the 11th remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

“It has been 11 years since our lives were forever changed, but our thoughts and prayers turn toward those who were lost as if it was yesterday.
“We will never forget the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and while doing so, we will never forget the bravery and strength shown in the face of terror.
“We will never forget the mothers and fathers, the brothers and sisters, the daughters and sons, the friends and neighbors who didn’t come home that day.
“We will never forget those who have served to protect freedom across the world, most especially the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and the heroes who returned injured and disabled.
“And when we remember, we will hopefully take a moment to value our freedom and liberty and remain vigilant against those who would seek to destroy it.
“On behalf of the New Jersey General Assembly, our thoughts and prayers are always with those who we remember this day.”
