(TRENTON) – Assembly committees on Thursday will consider legislation to control health care costs, enhance New Jersey’s gaming industries, reform civil service system to combat property taxes and abolish the state Council on Affordable Housing.
A panel will also hear testimony on the Christie administration’s failure to distribute utility assistance grants, while another will consider legislation requiring school districts to adopt anti-nepotism policies.

Highlights include:
· The Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee will meet at 10 a.m. to consider legislation (A-3378) to control out-of-network health care costs. It’s sponsored by Gary Schaer (D-Passaic/Bergen/Essex) and L. Grace Spencer (D-Essex).
· The Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee will meet at 10 a.m. to take testimony on the Christie administration’s delay in distributing utility assistance grants.
· The Assembly Regulatory and Oversight Committee will meet at noon to consider a 10-bill package to enhance and modernize the state’s gaming and horse racing industries.
· The Assembly Housing and Local Government Committee will meet at 2 p.m. to consider legislation (A-3447) sponsored by Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Jerry Green (D-Union/Somerset/Middlesex) to reform the state’s affordable housing rules and abolish COAH.
· The Assembly Education Committee will meet at 2 p.m. to consider legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Paul Moriarty (D-Gloucester/Camden) and Majority Leader Joseph Cryan (D-Union) to require school districts to adopt anti-nepotism policies.
· The Assembly State Government Committee will meet at 2 p.m. to consider legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-Union/Middlesex/Somerset) to reform the state’s civil service system. It will also consider legislation (A-2478) to require all future public workers to live in New Jersey.
