Regarding testimony from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program promoting cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers, at the Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee meeting Thursday, Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex), committee chair, released the following statement:
“We must make every possible effort to help veterans find employment, and today’s testimony was yet another step in the right direction to accomplish this. These men and women have made tremendous sacrifices for our country, yet they still face challenges in finding work after serving so faithfully. Our active service members confront challenges as well upon returning to work from deployment. As with our veterans, these are hurdles they should not be facing.
“The best practices shared today provided tremendous insight and will assist our committee in developing strategies to help veterans find work that complements their skill set and to aid service members in making a smoother transition upon returning to work at their employer.”
