Armato and Mazzeo Applaud Grant to Jewish Family Services Center to Fight Homelessness

Assemblymen John Armato and Vince Mazzeo (both D-Atlantic) on Friday applauded the selection of Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, an organization offering a variety of community services for adults and children in need, to receive a $230,813 grant from the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid-Re-Housing 2 program.

The grant will go towards JFS’s efforts to serve individuals and families who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness in Atlantic County.

“JFS plays a significant role in improving quality of life for so many people in South Jersey,” said Armato. “Time and time again, they’ve helped people get through their most desperate time of need. This organization is more than deserving of this grant, which will help JFS reach more people and continue its mission.”

“I’m pleased to see JFS be recognized for its incredible work,” said Mazzeo. “Thousands of people in need depend on JFS for resources, particularly those who are homeless. This award is a win not only for JFS, but for the countless people who will benefit from their services as a result.”

Jewish Family Service offers dozens of programs, including counseling, mental health services, vocational programs, a food pantry and homelessness initiatives.

“At Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, we provide individuals and families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness with the tools and resources needed to address, and ultimately, eradicate homelessness in our counties,” said Andrea Steinberg, Chief Executive Officer at Jewish Family Service. “With the Homelessness Prevention Rapid Re-Housing 2 Grant, JFS will continue to provide comprehensive assistance and stabilization services to this vulnerable population of our community. We are thankful for the unwavering support of the Governor’s office and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for supporting JFS in our work to end homelessness in the county.”
