TRENTON (February 1, 2024) —Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin has named Assemblywoman Lisa Swain to continue in her role as chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee in the new legislative session.
The Assembly Appropriations Committee is responsible for reviewing the fiscal impact of legislation on the state. The committee reviews bills dealing with revenues, taxation, state budget, and finance, and weighs in on the process of authorizing expenditure of public funds for a specific governmental purpose.
“I’m pleased to chair the Appropriations Committee in the new session,” said Assemblywoman Swain (D-Bergen). “I look forward to working with our new committee members as we consider the financial impact of legislation on the state, always mindful of our fiscal responsibilities.”
Swain also serves as the vice chair of the State and Local Government Committee and has been a member of the General Assembly since 2018.
