Speaker Coughlin Names Kennedy as Chair of the Assembly Environment, Natural Resources and Solid Waste Committee in the 221st Legislative Session

TRENTON (January 31, 2024) — Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin has named Assemblyman James Kennedy as chair of the Assembly Environment, Natural Resources and Solid Waste Committee in the new legislative session.   

This newly formed committee focuses on the protection of natural and historic resources in the state, as well as the management of waste disposal and recycling.  The committee is dedicated to preserving the quality of New Jersey’s air, waters, and land.

“As the proud chair of the newly formed Assembly Environment, Natural Resources, and Solid Waste Committee, I am excited to spearhead efforts aimed at safeguarding our state’s natural and historic treasures,” said Assemblyman James Kennedy (D-Somerset, Union). “Through collaborative initiatives and thoughtful policies, we hope to ensure the preservation of the Garden State’s sprawling environment for communities and future generations.”

Kennedy also serves as vice chair of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee. He has been a member of the General Assembly since 2016.
